Prof Carolina Olano
Dr Carolina Olano M.D., M Sc (Ed) is Professor of Gastroenterology at the Universidad de la República (UDELAR), Montevideo, Uruguay. Dr Olano is the current President-elect of the World Gastroenterology Organization. She is also a faculty member of the WGO “Train the Trainers” program and Chair of the WGO Academy Task Force. She has held various positions in the organisation, including Secretary-General, Chair of the Scientific Program Committee, and member of the IBS and Celiac Disease guidelines task forces.
She received the "fellow" status from the American Gastroenterological Association in 2016 and the Rome Foundation in 2022. She is a member of the Rome V Overlap Working Team (Rome Foundation) and the International Relationships Committee of the Pan-American Gastroenterology Organization.
Dr. Olano is co-editor of the Endoscopy International Open journal and a member of the Nature Reviews Gastroenterology and Hepatology journal advisory committee.
Her areas of interest are medical education, Small Bowel diseases and GBID (especially IBS)
